North Macedonia
Sandwiched between Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania and Kosovo, North Macedonia is land locked, with climatic influences from both the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. The country, like Kosovo, is home to an immense floral biodiversity for its relative size.
North Macedonia has a population of 2.13 million (2020) and the state is divided into eight regions for legal and statistical purposes as well as in 84 municipalities.
With a land area of 25,713 km², North Macedonia’s land use is distributed mostly between agriculture and forestry (44.3% and 39.8%). Agricultural land is mostly permanent pasture (26.5% and some arable land 16.4%).
